Wood-Fired Kitchen · Kuala Lumpur
Ember & Oak is a live-fire restaurant in the heart of Kuala Lumpur — seasonal produce, open flame, and a menu that changes with what the fire and the market give us.
One fire. A short menu. Ingredients at their peak, cooked simply and with intent.
There is no gas in our kitchen. Everything you eat has touched wood, coal or flame — smoked, seared or slow-roasted over embers. We cook what's good that week, and we cook it once, properly.

45 days aged, grilled over binchōtan, bone-marrow jus and burnt shallot.

Line-caught daily, blistered over open flame, charred citrus and herb oil.

Charred over embers, burnt honey, brown-butter crumble and vanilla cream.
The fire
Our kitchen is built around a single wood-fired grill and hearth. Local hardwood and lump charcoal, no gas, no shortcuts — just heat, smoke and timing. It's the oldest way to cook, and still the best.

The room
Thirty-eight seats, a handful of them at the counter looking straight into the flames. Dark timber, warm candlelight and the smell of woodsmoke — a room made for long dinners and good company.
Come for a full menu at a table, or perch at the fire counter and let the kitchen feed you what's best that night.
The best meal we've had in KL this year — you can taste the smoke in everything.Time Out Kuala Lumpur
Reservations
Dinner, Tuesday to Sunday. We recommend booking ahead — the counter seats by the flame go first.
